Japan Trip 2012 (Tokyo)
Another Christmas, another holiday… this time to Tokyo with Dad & Mum! We also caught up with JKLM – so blessed to see them 3 times this year!
Photos follow:
Here’s where we stayed…
…actually here in the Annex building.
Tiny entrance to our room!
Probably too small even for them!
Sleepy Stitch and Boo say hi from Tokyo!
Ramen was our first meal in Tokyo
Some Christmas decor outside one of the department stores
Downtown in Shinjuku, lots of food, games and er… it’s a red-light district also
Fresh strawberries!
Puzzling building
After eating a few sticks of strawberries, we went back to buy a couple boxes 😛
Some udon/ramen/soba alley
Eel rice!
Expensive cos they claim they use natural (instead of farmed) eel
Green tea dessert!
This is the only vending machine (we found) to have our favourite Hokkaido style corn soup
There it is!
Udon for breakfast!
Many gave it a good rating
The subway network in Tokyo. The routes look quite convoluted but the trains are simple and, most importantly, frequent! (Suck that, Melbourne!)
Namjatown: a JPY300 entry fare into a themed park…
(posing shot)
Entry ticket
…but we were only interested in the Gyoza Stadium
#1 bestseller: gyoza with mentaiko and cheese topping
This other one was SOOOOO juicy!!!
More ramen for Lunch part 2!

Huge cha-siu!

At Nippori station, heading towards the Yanaka Graveyard
Neat little house – who would live next to a graveyard?
Yanaka Graveyard – in here is the resting place of the last shogun, Tokugawa Yoshinobu (1837-1913)
Tokyo Skytree in the distance
This barber is dressed in a giant Santa hat
Isetatsu – stationery shop

We were going to eat here, but walked away because of the long queue 😦
So we had tempura instead!
We caught up with JKLM and had a game of 2v2 air hockey!
..more importantly we had dinner part 2 at our favourite ramen place: ICHIRAN!
Tea Rice for breakfast!
Breakfast part 2 was strawberries and cream tarts!
Lunch in Shibuya… crumbed chicken fillet…
…in some smoky den!
Dinner in a neighbouring hotel
Minced chicken meat
Shabu-Shabu!
Beef…
…and pork
LOVE Steph!
Intersection in Ginza
Christmas day: it’s 11pm and people along this street are frantically taking last minute photos while shops immediately change their windows to display new year sales!
The first Apple shop outside of US!
Cool snake decor at Bvlgari
Why they replaced this with Choux Creme in Mong Kok is beyond me…

Breakfast in Tsujiki fish market!
Fruit Ninja anyone?
Huge ocean dweller
30min wait to get into this cramped space
