8 Months!

Stephberry and I celebrate our 8 months today!! Tonight we’re going to a Hongkie restaurant in Chadstone. Steph has been wanting to dine with me here as it is quite good. The last time she took me here was a Sunday and was closed. I came here on just last Saturday night, but unfortunately the roast meats (which they’re famous for) were all sold out. Tonight we’ll try again.

…yep the BBQ Roast Pork was good! The restaurant’s name is Niko Niko, but the Chinese words at the front say something like “Tung Wo Group”. There is a Tung Wo restaurant in Glen Waverley and because of location, it’s usually more crowded. This one tastes better and the service was pretty good.

China and HK Trip

For two weeks, Steph and I were part of a team of 12 committed to teaching Conversational English in China.  For a copy of our journals detailing our adventure in China, please let us know. After this amazing trip we, along with Joan and Adele, stayed in HK for a week.  Click the pictures below for some photo albums.

Steph’s a Manager Now!

Yesterday I got the great news – that Stephberry has been offered the permanent role of Mortgages Technology Engagement Manager. She had an interview two-weeks ago, and was one of 6 applicants. For a while now, she has been looking for a permanent role that had something to do with Engagement Managing, as well as being dissimilar to her previous rotations. She had been a great asset to the team in her previous positions and consequently she has had offers there. However she wanted more of a challenge, and her mentor was encouraging her to find a role that would give her a wider range of career options. I always assured Stephberry that she would get the job – in fact I was certain she would get it. So praise God for this and for little miracles along the way, for one of the colleagues who had a say in choosing the final applicant had a two-day encounter with Steph at some training session. So even that had a part to play! We celebrated in style – by having Omakase at Shira Nui again! Yum, yum, yum!!!  Aaron just finished his exams too – so there’s another reason to celebrate!

Zack’s 21st

My brother Zack turned BIG TWO-ONE 4 days ago.  CONGRATULATIONS!  He’s been studying at ADFA for 3.5 years with a little over a year to go – and then it’s a mystery where he’ll be.  So for now, he’s back – and it was great to catch up with him again!

JKLMSGS

In the morning, Steph and I joined JKLM (James Kok and Lee-Mei – hence, JKLMSGS) for a double date over brunch at Coco Lounge in Glen Waverley. Our pastor has been encouraging James and I to keep our relationships accountable to each other and address the hard issues.  We all need to learn to be patient!!!

Ok, here are some photos (oops, forgot to take JKLM photos!):

Rosie’s 21st

Yet another 21st! This time it’s Rosie’s. We celebrated with some good Aussie tucker and a bush dance, or a Ho-Down! Fun, fun, fun!! Especially watching the kids and babies run around the place!

Misunderstanding

Stephberry and I addressed an issue in our relationship – misunderstanding. When she asks something deep of me, she genuinely wants to know. However I usually interpret it as an interrogation. Both of us need to learn how to be patient and more understanding towards each other – something that would take time. I would need to build on my self esteem, because sometimes I do think I’m not good enough for Steph. Steph was adamant that it she did make the decision to be my partner, and that everybody has weakness. We need to learn how to love each other more and more, turning weaknesses into strengths, and let God’s love pour into us and motivate us. I’m glad we can converse like this, because it grows us.

6 Months!

WOW! Already!???! Stephberry and I have reached our 6 month milestone!! Praise God! In the morning I bought Steph some flowers. Her response was such a tight squeeze: “Huggie Wuggie!”

Steph’s bro Aaron joined our celebration as we dined at the Modern Japanese fusion cuisine restaurant, Kobe Jones, located in Docklands.

Fish Farm

Jess and Pascal invited us to join them in a day trip to the Macclesfield Fish Farm (near Emerald). Other uni mates were invited but weren’t able to make it. Some of Jess’ colleagues joined us much later. “Fake fishing” was what we called it, because fishing there was quite easy. We began to fish at the lake (the “hard” difficulty) and Pascal caught a Rainbow Trout within 15 minutes. After an hour or so, we gave up. So Steph and I headed over to the Salmon (“easy”) pond and caught a 2kg fish! BBQ facilities were available, so we ate our freshly caught fish. Jess and Pascal came prepared with fish cleaning and cutting kits as well as various BBQ meats and condiments. We sashimied half the salmon and filleted the rest. Fresh salmon sashimi…. YUM!! I’d go there again just to eat it again hehe!
