Stokers Pancakes

We got a bit of quiet time tonight (for once in our busy schedules!). We headed over to Stokers, a little café-lounge in Ivanhoe that served home-made sweet and savoury pancakes. Yum!! Bit pricy though, but definitely worth going again for the quality pancakes and comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.

Hot Pot Dinner with the “ANZ Gang”

I’ve termed my new friends (Steph’s colleagues – actually, I knew some of them from Melbourne High School days) the “ANZ Gang.”  And so the ANZ Gang and SGS went to a relatively new hot pot restaurant whose special for the night was the $15 all-you-can-eat. ($25 for Friday and Saturday nights).

4 Months!

Yesterday was our 4th month anniversary! However Stephberry has BSF on Mondays, so we celebrated it today. I took her to Claypots, an Asian/Mediterranean seafood restaurant in St Kilda. We shared two garlic prawns ($18) which came served in a mini-wok of sizzling garlic oil and Turkish bread, followed by the Chilli Crab ($40) which came on a huge square platter (3 of them!). They were surrounded by a sea of mussels and served on top of risotto-style rice. Absolutely fantastic! And best of all? Steph was happy! Weee!

Easter Day Out Around the Bay

Easter Day Out!  James and I planned a whopper of a trip: it was to be a surprise trip around the bay for our respective partners.

5:30am I was wide awake, despite having only 3 hours sleep!

6:30am At Steph’s house, picked her up and drove towards James’ house.

7:10am Having picked James and Lee Mei up, we headed for Checkpoint #1: Geelong.

7:15am But first, we added some petrol into the car and inflated the tyres.  There was some rude guy in a 4WD who beeped us as we took our time putting the air into the tyres.  Happy Easter to him too!  My dear Steph reached over and beeped him back!  Now we’re on our way!

8:30am Not much traffic meant that we were ahead of schedule.  We had a Maccas breakfast in Geelong, followed by coffee in some café.  We took some pictures beside the bay.

10:00am Leaving Geelong behind we travelled further south.  A 30 minute journey to…

10:45am …Checkpoint #2: Point Lonsdale!  Here stands a small lighthouse which stands at the entrance to Port Philip Bay.  A booking made two weeks ago guaranteed a spot in the 30-minute tours up the lighthouse.  Only 8 people could fit in the narrow space at any one time, so there were some walk-ins joining us on our tour.

12:00pm After taking a stroll down to the nearby pier, we headed towards our next destination.  However, due to some ample time, we briefly stopped by at Point Lonsdale Town where there was a market bustling with activity.

12:40pm And now we’re on our way to Checkpoint #3: Queenscliff.

12:45pm Arriving at Queenscliff, we paid the fare to travel by ferry: $74 for 4 adult tickets and the car!

1:00pm The ferry departed shortly afterwards.  Steph and I stood at the back of the ferry. A fantastic view of The Rip, the front beaches of the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas, and of course the ferry’s wake.

2:00pm The next stop was Checkpoint #4: Rye.  We ordered some fish and chips and dined on the beach.  Beautiful weather – and even more perfect: there were NO FLIES!!!

3:30pm And away we go on another trip, cutting through towards the ocean side of Mornington.  Part of the road was unsealed, but nevertheless James and Lee Mei the sleepy couple managed to catch a few winks.

3:50pm Checkpoint #5: Ashcombe Maze, Shoreham.  Using some vouchers, we had half-price admissions ($6.50) to the maze gardens.  Two hedge mazes, rose mazes, lavender and rock gardens abound the 25 acre property.  A very happy Stephberry snuggles up to me: “I’m so, so, so spoilt!  Thank you so much!”

5:30pm Closing time now!  We took off, heading back towards civilisation!

7:30pm We arrived at James’ house!  I was yawning non-stop for the final 15 minutes of the trip.  For some reason the tiredness has caught up with me.  I was surprised I lasted so long after having not much sleep.  We had a quick nap.  (Or at least I did – the others were playing SuDoKu).

8:00pm Dinner time!  Checkpoint #6: Korean Garden Restaurant, Clayton was picked by the girls.  Yum!  We couldn’t finish all the food we ordered though!

10:00pm Home time.  I dropped Steph at her place on the way.  Mission accomplished!  TongTong’s super happy! ^_^

Prerna’s Graduation

Prerna’s was the first graduation that SGS has attended.  Also in attendance were my brother Elisha, as well as friends from church.

Congratulations, Prerna!  Now don’t be hopeful that I need to see you soon!  I thank God for my 15/20 vision ^_^

Friday Lunches

I finish work early on Fridays, and so on most Fridays I have lunch with Stephberry in the city. Last week she took me to Sushi Ten, to eat some sushi-on-rice. Today I took her to AIX, to eat some crepes. Gotta start cataloguing where we’ve been and the places where we want to eat!!

Erin and Ray’s Wedding

Steph and I attended the wedding ceremony of Dr. and Mrs. Raymond and Erin Hu!  Such a cute couple! This is the first wedding we’ve attended.  But I still think my dear Princess Stephberry is the star of the event hehehe. =P

Advance Practice

As some of you know, at this time, Steph lives with her brother Aaron.  Her Mum and Dad as well as her youngest brother, Justin, are in Hong Kong.  Tonight, Aaron’s school was conducting Parent-Teacher interviews and Steph, being Aaron’s “guardian” had to attend.  So she invited me to come along to accompany her.  We must be the youngest looking parents around.  I lost count – but it wouldn’t be any less than ten times that we were asked the same question: “You’re too young to be parents, right?”

Oh well – there is a purpose to everything.  Perhaps this was an advance practice session!

Fun Run

Today is Labour Day. I joined a few others in the Knox Community Fun Run. Steph and I competed in the 5km run. Very tiring – and quite surprised I actually did it! Steph was consistently running the whole length, whereas I stopped a couple of times. At the end, Steph was about 50m behind me, so I stopped, waited and held her hand as we crossed the finish line together. According to the official reading (we had electronic tags attached to our ankles), Steph was 31mins, 33.2 seconds; and I was 31mins, 33.3 seconds. In telling Steph she beat me by 0.1 second, she replied:

Hehe… it’s becoz you were holding my hand and swing me cross the finish line 🙂

SOOOOOOOO SWEEET OF YOU!!!!!!!!

****MUAH****
