Rottnest Island

Steph flew over to Perth for the long weekend.  Although the trip was off to a bad start last night thanks to a whopping 3 hour delay by Qantas, she finally had a good rest and we were off to a grand day out early this morning.  Read More…

SGS Home

After about a year’s worth of looking at houses, we’ve finally found a place to call home!  It’s definitely a blessing from God and the timing couldn’t be any better: the property is leased till November, so we have about a month’s work in moving things into the house before the wedding!  Can’t wait to make over that garden! ^_^

E-Session with Charis Photography

Today we had our e-session with Lucas Law at Emerald Lake. It was a really nice morning started at 8:30am with slight breezes of wind. The weather was slightly overcast which makes it perfect for photos.

Sam and I started with some photos at the bridge. It’s so funny! Sam kept cracking up in those supposedly romantic shots. It took us a while to warm up to the camera and Lucas took some absolutely fantastic shots of us.

Engagement Party #1

We have quite a few friends, so we’ve decided to host separate engagement parties for family and for friends.  At least it gives our 2 families the chance to get to know each other!  The party was held over a scrumptious seafood buffet dinner at the Melba Restaurant, located in the Langham Hotel.  The Melba staffed arranged for two long tables to seat the 30 guests in a somewhat enclosed area, which of course, gave us a little privacy to give our engagement speech.

Judith & Xing-Kai’s Wedding

Judith was from PLC, Steph’s high school; while Xing-Kai was from MHS, my high school.  It has been a while since I’ve caught up with Xing-Kai (to my memory it was a catch up in June 2007, with Robbie).  It was even longer ago since I’ve seen Judith!

The wedding was held at St. Aidan’s Uniting Church in Balwyn.  I was asked by Xing-Kai on Monday to help with the song leading.  Hymns…. hmm, I wasn’t good at them.  Hymns have too many verses – and I was becoming increasingly stressed towards the end of the worship session!  During the singing, either I was going too fast or the organist too slow – it was hard to keep in time!!  With that aside, the ceremony was simply fantastic.  Both the bride and groom were glowing with much joy.  The absolutely brilliant and well-organised reception following was held in the Alto Room at Langham Hotel (with no less than 3 speakers repeating word-for-word: “How stunning is the bride?”).

It seemed not too long ago when Jingers (Xing-Kai), Robberz (Robbie) and Sammerz (me) were pulling pranks at high school… now we’re grown up(?): Jingers leading the way with his marriage, me not too far behind in getting engaged, and Robbie not too far behind either(? =P).

And yes, as per SGS tradition, we must mention the food – it’s good here!  Well done on the food and venue selection, X&J! =)  Congratulations again – and may your marriage be a seriously fun one!  Cheers!

Dinner at Arrivederci

Having dinner with many friends require prior organisation – to get the numbers and to book the place.  Because I would be in Melbourne for a week (normally I’d be here only for a weekend), I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to catch up with friends from high school, uni and church.  The next long break in Melbourne would be Christmas, and I’m sure many people would be busy at that time.

So this dinner was a combination of catching up with some of my friends as well as an engagement celebration for SGS.  There will be two official engagement parties coming up: one during Christmas for family and the second at the end of January for friends (because quite a few would be away during Christmas). Stephberry’s 25 and Our Engagement

Today is Stephberry’s birthday – and it’s her turn to celebrate the quarter-milestone!  Just in case anyone asks, the camera+accessories were her birthday present, whilst the pearl earrings from Kailis (thanks Tegan for the suggestion!) was my engagement present to her. Read More…

Yum Cha Lunch and Mini Celebration

Straight after the proposal, we went to church where we were duly greeted by Ben and was asked to sit in the front row.  There he mentioned to Daljit our little shindig in the morning.  After the praise and worship session, Daljit then announced our engagement – apparently pleased we still made it to church in the morning! THE PROPOSAL

It was 7am in the morning when I arrived at Steph’s place.  She had only just woken up and required another “5 minutes of sleep.”  7:30am and we were away, heading towards the Royal Botanic Gardens… Read More…
