With Australia Day falling on a Saturday, today was declared the “Australia Day public holiday” – the first of many long-weekends for the Australian year. For lunch we had Yum Cha at New Royal Garden with Wan Sze and Arthur shouting us the meal as a thankyou gift for organising their wedding. It was a popular restaurant, and we had to wait some 15-20 minutes for our table which we had made a reservation for. Eight of us (Wan Sze, Arthur, Petrina, Jasmine, Anna, Elaine Gan, Steph and I) crammed onto a table normally suited for six!
The newlyweds shared about their wedding functions in Malaysia as well as their honeymoon to Hong Kong and Taiwan. One thing to note: Taiwan is good for shopping, but not sightseeing! Their tour around the whole of Taiwan consisted of lengthy bus drives to a single destination, where tourists had about an hour to see/visit. More time was spent on the bus than actually enjoying the sights! The bus driver even rubbed it in by saying this tour was all they had because of relative depreciation: “With what you paid, ten years ago we would be flying around!” However, their stay in Taiwan was worth their while in terms of shopping, especially Wan Sze’s less-then-$20 boots. Following lunch, we watched some video highlights and photo DVDs taken from their Melbourne and Malaysia wedding functions. There were funny moments in those Melbourne highlights – including when Steph was playing with my cheeks… and also when Steph blew bubbles into my face! Tong TONG!
