V-day Dinner

The best surprise Steph gave me was, of course, coming home a day earlier from her 2-week stint in Taiwan.  Yesterday as I was about to head off to badminton, Steph was there in the driveway smiling at a somewhat stunned individual who was momentarily perplexed: “Is it Sunday already?”

After a 24hr fiesta of scrumptious CNY meals, it was time for me to hole myself up in the kitchen to produce something delectable… something edible from 2-weeks’ worth of experimentation:

Almost Lost the Ring!

Yep, I almost lost it!

We were on our way back from the Great Wall when, as we stowed away our beanies and gloves, I realised my ring was amiss.  Just as we decided to look around, the van entered a long, dark tunnel.  Pray was all we could do, having recently learnt what the term “liminal space” meant…

Losing the ring was a disaster waiting to happen as the temperature dropped to -14degC: the fingers were thin and on numerous occasions I quickly took off the gloves, snapped a few pictures and swiftly put them back on.  It could have been any one of those times…

Exiting the tunnel we proceeded to look around the van, search the gloves, the jackets… nothing.  Then – a thought… the backpack… Emptying it we were relieved to find the ring right at the bottom! It fell off when I first took the camera out, some 30ft in the air on a chair-lift!  Thank God the space was short…

Wedding vows

I’ve been thinking and thinking of the wedding vows for a long time now, since we got engaged really. It’s only a few sentence but it will be something that I hold on to for the rest of our lives. When time gets tough, those were the things that I need to replay and replay to remind myself.

To me, the wedding vows, is the utmost important moment of the whole wedding saga. It’s a moment between God and us, and all our family and friends witnessing… Ahh… can’t wait!

Fridge shopping (part 2)

Unfortunately we weren’t able to get the french-door styled refrigerators we originally intended because the alcove was merely centimeters too narrow!  So we had to go for an upside-down type refrigerator and settled for a Fisher & Paykel one, which the Good Guys had on special (about $300 less than Harvey Norman).  The first blessing was that they were able to organise a delivery within just two days!  The second was even better… when it arrived, it was an upgraded one!  We did call them up the next working day and they admitted their bungle (the model number was only slightly different).  Instead of organising a second delivery, we decided to keep the upgraded one and agreed with their management to fork out a little (and worthwhile) extra cash to keep it…  So now we’ll have to eventually organise for a plumber to connect the water and ice dispensers 🙂

Fridge shopping

Haier HTD647SSA hot swelling 35 degrees! Sam and I went to fridge shopping at Nunawading – Home HQ, Harvey Norman. We always know we want a french door fridge. We intended to have Fisher Paykel, but it’s a crazy AUD3000!

Then at the same corner, we have LG (their mobile phones don’t even work properly, so NO! Bad design of the freezer drawers too because it’s those metal tray with holes – imaging cleaning the floor), Samsung (It’s ok, but the space inside is not quite right).

Then, we saw Haier! The price is reasonable, and we’re quite impressed by its freezer compartment as well as the defrost section. I remembered I had Haier in my Shanghai Citadines apartment. Quite a trusted brand in China. So, I think we are locked at Haier now!

Well……… we haven’t measured the fridge space in the house yet 😛 We’ll be getting the keys on Nov 10th!

Most of the planning is already done… a few more tweaks here and there to go, then of course, the bills haha!

Thanks heaps for everyone who has RSVP’ed… for those who haven’t that’s ok, I only turn into Groomzilla on Sunday 😉  Hope to hear from you soon!

Forgo Eggplant

During the weekend of wedding celebrations in Perth, Pastor Jimmy talked about there are certain things that we have to give up in order to live peacefully with each other.

I’ll bring up the first one – Eggplant.

Thank you dear! 😛

Eggplant is evil!

Furnishing starts…

Modern ChandelierWith a little bit more than a month, we are going to collect the keys to our unit! I was walking around in Freedom furniture for 10mins before meeting the girls for Karaoke on Saturday, and I came across this chandelier that absolutely caught my eye. I have always hoped to have a modern chandelier at my house. I actually found the same chandelier at House of Lights – but $40 cheaper! (The picture on the left is the best resemblance of the real thing)

I can already imagine the SGS Home to be a hangout place, friends/couple dinners, family gatherings. It’s going to be a house where relationships are built! Exciting!
